I created an account and ran a complete order through Songoven, stopping at the payment screen. My aim was to watch how the product behaves at each step and to see whether its personalization holds up when you feed it specific details about a real person.

Setting Up the Order

The flow opens with the recipient. I entered a first name, Maxine, and switched on the option to include that name in the lyrics. A second field asks for age and gender, described as fine-tuning data that stays out of the lyrics themselves.

Step two handles the relationship. None of the preset buttons matched what I needed, so I chose "Other" and typed "Sister" into the open field. This is one of the stronger parts of the interface, since it lets you describe a connection in your own words when the presets come up short.

Choosing the Sound and the Story

After the step 3 that was only about choosing occasion, the preferences step is where the song starts to take shape. You pick a vocal voice between two options, then a genre, a tempo, and a mood. The genre grid includes Gospel, Hip-Hop, Salsa, and Reggae among more than a dozen choices, which widens what the tool can attempt before a single word is written.

Then comes the step that decides everything. Songoven hands you a free-text box to describe the person. I wrote a short paragraph about Maxine: a night-shift nurse who never complains, obsessed with her rescue dog Biscuit, a heavy iced-coffee drinker who calls at 2am, and the one who held the family together after our dad got sick.

Did the Personalization Hold Up?

The lyrics arrived within a couple of minutes at no cost. This is the moment where the tool either proves itself or falls flat, and it held up. Four of my specific details showed up in the opening verse alone. "Night-shift nurse" became "a night-shift guardian." Biscuit appeared by name. "Iced coffee" carried through word for word. My closing line, "the strongest person I know," came back as "the strongest soul I know." The lyrics screen keeps the controls plain, offering an approve button and a regenerate option, with a manual edit path alongside them.

The Price Surprise

Here is where the experience turned.

The checkout priced my song at $34.99. Songoven’s own homepage FAQ states that a custom song costs $19.90, and one third-party review site lists $26.99. The amount I was actually asked to pay came close to double the figure the company advertises on its own site.

The same screen credits the work to "our composers" and promises "studio-quality audio." Songoven’s FAQ, meanwhile, states plainly that its AI generates both the lyrics and the music. The word "composers" points to people at work, which sits oddly against what the company itself says it does.

One more detail deserves a flag. The homepage headline promises you can hear your song before you pay. Based on the flow I went through, what you actually see before payment is the written lyrics, while the checkout says the audio will be ready for preview roughly an hour after purchase. The song itself appears to arrive after payment, not before it.
