What separates it from a plain chatbot is integration. The same character you build can appear in a generated photo and later recall what you told it last week, without you moving between separate tools.
The catch is the pricing model. A subscription unlocks features, but most media runs on a separate token currency called Moments, so a single voice call or a batch of images quietly drains a balance that the flat monthly fee never covers. Privacy is the other pitch, marketed through anonymous signup and discreet billing, though those promises rest on the company’s own word rather than an independent audit. The platform suits readers who want believable companionship and visual creation in one place and accept a premium price for keeping both under one roof.

I set up a free account and put the platform through a run of tests built around its headline claims. Every screenshot below comes from my own session.
Memory: an impressive start with a real crack
Memory is the feature Secrets AI sells hardest, so I tested it first. I opened my chat with the Apex companion by stating four facts about myself in a single message.
The immediate confirmation was accurate. It repeated back the golden retriever named Waffle, the October half marathon, the cilantro I dislike, and my fondness for banana.
Fifteen messages later I asked it to tell me what I like and dislike without scrolling up. Three of the four came back correctly. The fourth did not. My love of banana had vanished, replaced by a claim that I hate coffee, something I never told it.
That single swap matters. Short-term echo works well, yet persistent recall dropped one detail and invented another in its place. For a product whose main promise is a companion who remembers you, that gap earns a mention in any honest review.
Voice calls: the meter runs fast
The Call Me button starts a live voice conversation. Apex answered in a natural voice and the audio held together without stutter.
I kept the call to 29 seconds. When it ended, the receipt showed the cost: 25 Moments.
That works out to roughly 52 Moments for each minute of talking. The top Ultimate plan grants 15,000 Moments a month. Spend the whole allowance on voice and you get under five hours of conversation, with no Moments left for images or video. The talk feature is polished, and it empties your balance at speed.
Personas sit behind the top tier
I tried to create a persona and hit a wall. The feature is locked to the Ultimate subscription, which advertises 15,000 Moments a month, plus group chats and priority generation.
Anyone on the free tier or a lower plan will not touch this feature at all.
Building a companion: more depth than expected
The custom builder runs through nine steps, opening with gender and style.
Aggregated reviews often call the customization shallow. My experience pushed back on that. A nine-step flow handed me far more control over appearance and personality than a quick row of sliders would suggest. The depth is there when you build from scratch instead of editing a preset.
Image generation: strong prompt adherence
The Generation Studio takes a text prompt and produces a still or a video. I wrote a detailed prompt for a woman in her mid-20s inside a bright city café, wearing a cream blouse with high-waisted jeans, shot in soft natural daylight.
The result matched nearly every element I specified. The café backdrop, the outfit, the lighting, and the relaxed composition all came through.
Facial features and skin texture held up well, with no warped hands or obvious artifacts in this generation. Prompt adherence is a real strength here.
