Text-based AI chat
Ongoing written conversations with an AI character.
ThotChat AI was an AI companion chat service that has since been discontinued. This updated review confirms its current status, explains what the platform was, and covers what former users should do now.

ThotChat AI is no longer a working product, and that is the headline for anyone searching the name today. The service has shut down, the original chat app is gone, and the domain now serves a comparison page that points visitors toward other AI companion apps. The brand published almost no verifiable ownership, safety, or data-handling information while it ran, which leaves former users with little certainty about where their accounts and payment details went. There is nothing to sign up for and nothing to recommend. The useful action now is to secure any old account and treat the shutdown as a prompt to check your billing.
ThotChat AI was an AI companion service in the same category as apps like Candy.ai and GirlfriendGPT. These products let a person hold ongoing text conversations with a persistent AI character and lean on personality and roleplay as the draw. ThotChat positioned itself around adult-oriented chat.
The service ran entirely in the browser, with no app-store download involved. A user would open the site, start a conversation, and continue it across sessions.
Beyond that category description, little about ThotChat is publicly verifiable. The brand named no operating company, registered entity, or contact trail, and it documented no clear age-verification or content-moderation policy. That opacity was true while it operated and matters more now that it has closed, because it limits what anyone can confirm about how the service handled accounts and data.
As of this review, the original service is discontinued and the domain redirects to an affiliate comparison page.

There is no live product to put through its paces here, so our hands-on check became a status check. We opened the ThotChat AI address the way any former user or curious searcher would, pulled its archive history, and read its own footer. Here is exactly what we found today.
The original chat service does not open. In its place sits a page headed “Best AI Girlfriend Apps,” with a line that confirms the shutdown in the site's own words.

The page tells visitors, “Used ThotChat before it shut down? Here are the best ThotChat alternatives.” That single sentence is the clearest confirmation available that the product is finished. There is no login, no sign-up, and no chat interface left to reach.
What replaced the service is thin. The address now carries just two things: a ranked comparison of other AI companion apps, and a blog headed “Guides & Reviews” filled with more comparison posts.

Neither section restores the original chat product. Both exist to route a visitor toward other paid apps, using labels like “#1 Pick” and “Most Popular” to steer the click.
The reason that ordering deserves suspicion is printed at the bottom of the page itself.

“This site contains affiliate links” is the site's own disclosure. It means the “Try Free” buttons pay the page when a visitor signs up, so the rankings reflect a commercial arrangement rather than an independent test. Read them as advertising. The footer also shows the only operator identifier anywhere on the site, a bare “© 2026 ThotChat,” with no company, address, or contact beside it.
To place the shutdown in time, we checked the Internet Archive's capture history for the domain.

The record shows the domain saved 90 times between August 3, 2024 and April 10, 2026. That brackets the service's life: it was active from around the middle of 2024, and the captures run into the first half of 2026, after which the address settled into the affiliate page it shows now. The brand published no formal shutdown notice, so the archive is the closest thing to a timeline on record.
If you ever held a ThotChat account, the shutdown is a reason to tidy up rather than panic. Check your card or PayPal statements for any recurring charge tied to the service and cancel anything still active.
Change any password you reused elsewhere, starting with the one on your email. The brand never named an operator or published a data-handling policy, so there is no support desk to ask where your information went. Closing out the billing and the password reuse is the practical protection left to you.
